My job interview at Rainbows End
Yesterday after school, I went for a job interview at Rainbows End. First I went home by taxi to get dressed. I went up to my local bus stop to get onto my first bus to the main town of Howick. When I got there I immediately went onto my second bus that took me to the MIT building in Manukau. After I got there I walked to Rainbows End. Next I went into their office and waited for the interview lady to see me. When the interview lady saw me she greeted me and we shook hands. Then she told me a bit about Rainbows End and how their employees work and stuff. She asked me a bit about myself like what I like doing? Where do I live? What school do I go to? etc. Next she told me a bit about the cleaning job and what they have to do. She gave me a form to complete about the dates when I'm available to work. She took a photo of me and put my photo on my form. She explained to me that she had to give my form to the cleaning team manager who has to look at my form to see if I'm capable enough to do the job. If he or she thinks I’m capable enough then he or she will phone me for another interview. After I was finished with the interview lady my mum picked up from the office because she also works at Rainbows End and I went home with her. It was really exciting for me to go for my first job interview.

Yesterday we went to our film festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts. I went in Khunfs car with Julia. When we got there, a lot of children from other schools were waiting outside the theater. I practised my speech while we were waiting. Next, we went into the big screen room and we watched lot of other films that different schools have made. Then our class film came on. I went up to a little stage with Mina and we introduced our class film. After that Mina and I ,sat back down and we watched our movie. That was so good. After all the films were done, we went to the food court and had our morning tea there. We also had a frozen coke there. Then we had a little look around JB HI FI and came back to school. I had a really awesome time at the film festival and my favorite film there was the “volcano“ one by Finn from EW3. It taught us some important facts about the volcanos around Auckland.

Guns in the Kitchen
Guns in the Kitchen
Old photos contain clues about the past. Next time you look at one, think about the following to get the full picture:
The first thing I notice in the photo is that there are weapons on the wall. The reason for this photo might be that the photographer wanted to remember his flat forever.
Clues in this picture which gives you ideas of how old it is can be seen by the old fashioned stove and furniture and the date on the photo. In this case, the photo was taken in the 1880s.
Probably the two other people who lived here are watching the photographer taking this photo.
I can see some weapons along with some plates and cups on the shelf in the background.
I think outside the frame we can see there are no woman living here. It is like a man cave.

Turning bush into Butter
Turning bush into Butter!
This photograph was taken at Winiata near Taihape and it was an informal family photograph. The difference between this photo and the one on page nine is that this photo is much more informal. You can see cows, a cat and some dogs. The mother and father in this photo are milking cows. The nationality of the family is Maori. The photographer of this photo is Edward George Child. They were burning down some of the trees in the bush so they could make more room for the cows. The quicker way of getting rid of a native bush was burning down the trees. The two stories told by this photo is the hard work that went into making and running a farm and also the impact of that hard work on their forests. The hill in the background shows a few of the trees that are still alive.

What to do in a Earthquake
What is an Earthquake?
An Earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action.
Last week our class learnt about what we should do in an Earthquake. First of all, what should you do before an Earthquake?
Practice an Earthquake drill and identify a safe place.
To plan for survival, you will need supplies for at least 3-7 days. You will need food, water, a torch, blankets, a first aid kit and washing supplies. What should you do while an Earthquake is happening? Go out to a very open place. If you can’t go out of the building, drop, cover and hold, where there’s no windows or stuff that can fall onto you.
What should you do after an Earthquake? Contact all of your friends and family people to see if they are okay. If a friend or family member has found a safer place go there if you can.

My trip to the Dentist
Yesterday our class went to the Dentist to check on our teeth. We went in the school van. It was at Pt. England School. When we got there we waited for our turn to go see the Dentist. My Dentist, Heidi said “Hi” to me and she sat me down. She checked my teeth and she said that I have done a good job at cleaning my teeth but I do have a little hole in one of my teeth. So I’ll have to go back to the Dentist some time to get it sorted out. Next she took me to the X-Ray room to take an x-ray of my teeth. After that was done, she took me back to the dental room to clean my teeth. I had a really fun time at the Dentist but I was little bit disappointed that I had a hole in one of my teeth.
