Cracked Window Investigation

Cracked Window Investigation

Someone sat on a chair outside the window, leaned against it and cracked it.

Someone banged on the window and cracked it.

Someone kicked the window and cracked it.

Someone tried to break in and failed.

Someone hit the window with a bean bag and cracked it.

Someone throw something at the window and cracked it.

Someone drew fake crack lines on the window.

I guess it was Jason because I think he leaned his seat against the window.

My Trip To The Interact Art Festival

My Trip To The Interact Art Festival

Last Wednesday I went to the Interact Art Festival in Henderson with my class.

First we went in two school vans to get there. When I got there it was very sunny and I went and saw a concert inside the main building.

After I was there for a while I went to the other part of the building to do some activities. I did some things in there like making a card, making a badge and painting a rock.

Next I went outside and had my morning tea.

Then I went to a little hall and made a bow tie.

After that I went back to the building and saw some more concerts like the Pakuranga College X Factor and the Halloween dance.

Next I went back outside and had my lunch with the class. We all had to bring a packed lunch.

Lastly I went back to one of the school vans and I went back to school with my class.

I had a really awesome time at the Interact Art Festival, we were the only class that went that day. The rest of Sommerville went on Friday.

The Man Who Sailed Across The World

The Man Who Sailed Across The World

Once upon a time a man in Samoa wanted to travel to England which is on the other side of the world.

Unfortunately he was really really poor since he lived in a very very small village. So he couldn’t afford to buy a plane ticket to get there. He thought of an idea to build a little ship to sail all the way over there.

Then he spent the next there mouths building it out of wood from trees near the village.

After three months he finished making his ship and set sail from Apia to the deep blue sea. He made sure that he had all of the supplies needed to survive the long journey across the Pacific, Caribbean and Atlantic oceans. He also made a map and compass to help him get there.

For the next 2 weeks he went over the Pacific passing the other little islands and Hawaii with little sleep since his boat was so tiny you couldn’t really fit a bed in there and with limited food.

One week later when he was coming really close to Central America a shark came up to his ship and ate a part of the ship off. He managed to scare it off with using a stick arrow that he brought with him without letting the shark eat him or destroy the ship. Unfortunately, since a part came off the ship some sea water came inside the ship, so he sailed as fast as he could using the stick he had used to scare off the shark before getting all the way to Panama.

Once in Panama he stopped in Panama City and went to a nearby forest at night and he sneakily chopped down some trees to get some wood to fix the little part that had been broken by the shark. He did it at night so that he would’t get caught by the forest rangers. Then he went to a nearby cave and went to sleep in there. The next day he fixed up his ship inside the cave. Then he went across Panama City and he set sail again.

When he set sail he went across the Caribbean Ocean onto the Atlantic Ocean. Once on the Atlantic Ocean he sailed his way to Europe where England is. After about 2 weeks of sailing from Panama he made it to Europe.

Once in Europe he sailed onto the United Kingdom and into England to a little town called Brighton. After sailing 15,275 kms he made it from Samoa to the UK via Panama on a little ship that he had built by hand. It took him about 6 weeks.

After he arrived in Brighton he was very very tired and hungry because he had almost no sleep for 2 weeks from sailing from Panama and he had ran out of food that he brought with him from Samoa and Panama. So he had a very very big sleep at a hotel in town and had lots of food from restaurants. The End

My Holiday News 16/10/18

My Holiday News 25/10/18

On Thursday week 1, I drove on the motorway for the first time from Drury to Bombay. Nana took me in her car. When I suggested it to her I was feeling a little bit nervous. But when I went onto the motorway and drove at 100ks I was feeling really really proud of myself.

A couple of days before I went to the car repair shop where I used to work at and I helped my nana to deliver some flyers to people’s houses around the Papakura area. My nana did one block and I did another block. We had to do the other blocks the next couple of days because we kept running out of time because I had a driving lesson with a instructor later on that day.

On Saturday week 2, I went to my Dad’s place and I went with him, his friend and my brother to see the Kiwis vs Kangaroos Rugby League game at Mt Smart Stadium. The Kiwis played really well against the Kangaroos and the Kiwis won 26-24. The Kangaroos came really really close to beating them.

I had a really fun and awesome holiday and it was really cool driving on the motorway.

My Trip To The Dentist

My Trip To The Dentist

About two weeks ago I went to the Dentist with half of my class.

When we got there we waited in the waiting room for our turn to go in. When it was my turn to go in the dental nurse came and got me and we went to one of the dental rooms.

She sat me down in the dental chair and she checked my teeth. She said that I'm doing a good job on keeping my teeth clean but she did say that I do have a little hole in one of my teeth,so I'll have to come back later this year to get a filling in it.

Then she took me to the x-ray room to do an x-ray on my teeth.

Next she took me back to the dental room to talk to me about my teeth and what I need to do next. She also gave me a form to give to my Mum.

After that I went back to the waiting room to wait for some other people to come out.

Lastly we went back to school in the school van.

My Day At The Basketball Tournament

My Day At The Basketball Tournament

Last Thursday we to went to the Special Olympics basketball tournament at the Barfoot & Thompson Stadium (formerly ASB Stadium).

When we got there we got into our teams that we made up when we were practicing for the tournament. The teams we made up where The Shakers, The Breakers and The Movers. I was in The Movers team.

First we went up to the seating area to have a little snack.

Then my team went down and we played our first game against the Tamaki Giants from the Sommerville Base School. The team beat us but we really enjoyed it.

After the game we went back up and watched other teams play.

Next we went back down and we played our second game against Pakuranga College. We played really really well against them. We won 10 to 0. I was the one who got the ball into the goal a few times.

Then we went back up and watched some other people play.

After a while we went back down again to play our last game against Mt Roskill Intermediate. Once again we did really really well in that game. We won that game 11 to 3 but someone from our team had to go and play for the other team because they were very low on people.

Next we sat down and we got our certificates. Then we went back into the school van and we went back to school. I had a really fun time playing against other schools.

Our Outing To Ambury Regional Park

Our Outing To Ambury Regional Park

Last Thursday, we went to Ambury Regional Park in Mangere to do one of our last Let’s Get Active Day’s for the term.

First of all we got divided into our Let’s Get Active groups. The groups where the strength group with Kevin, the walking group with Nicola and the mobility group with Diana. I was in the strength group.

When we got there my group went for a little walk around and had a look at all the different signs about the park and the warning signs. Then we had a run and did some of our stretches to warm up.

After we had our warm ups we had a little snack and Kevin told us that we had to vote on where we were going to go. We chose to go on the garden walk which was down the paddock.

While we were walking we saw some Cows, Horses and Sheeps.

After waking for a while we met up with the two other groups in the farm land and we hanged around there for about 10 to 20 minutes.

Then we went back to waking and we explored more of Ambury Park and we saw more stuff like where the Insects live and where the some of the Sheeps live.

Next we went back to the park bit and we had our lunch.

After we had our lunch we went to see the Pigs and Chickens because we ran out of time to do it before lunch.

Lastly we went back to our van and went back to school.

I had a really really awesome time at Ambury Regional Park.

My Weekend News 20/08/18

My Weekend News 20/08/18

On Saturday, I went to my Dad's place for the night.

First we went to a few car dealers to have a look at some of the used cars. The cars we looked at were the Nissan Tiida and the Toyota Yaris. I even went inside them to have a look at how it felt. I liked the Tiida the best because I liked the design more because it felt more higher end and classy.

After that we went to the New Lynn Mall to have a look at a few shops. We went to JB HI FI and Noel Leeming but we didn’t buy anything. It was just around lunchtime so we went to the food court to have lunch. Then after that we went home.

Later on that night, I watched Indiana Jones with my Dad. It was a really cool film because it was very entertaining. It was also the first time I ever saw the film.

On Sunday, I went back home to my Mum’s place.

Later on that same day, I went for a driving lesson with her at a Lloyd Elsmore car park. She told me that I need a bit more practine parking becouse I sometimes go off the white line and I sometimes don't go close enough to the end white line and breaking becouse I sometimes hit the breaks too hard. But other than that she said I was good at it. It was also my first time leaning how to drive with my her.

I had a really interesting and cool weekend.

My Weekend News 13/08/18

On Friday afternoon, I went to The Hub to have dinner at Wendy’s.

On Saturday, I went with my Nanna to a car park across the road from my Uncle’s car repair shop. I have been practising my reversing, parking, turning and stopping. It was my first time learning how to reverse and park. My Nanna told me I was really good at parking but sometimes one of the wheels of the car went onto one of the white lines. Also she said that I was good at reversing but it was a little bit fast because I pushed on the accelerator too hard, but after a while I got the hang of it and I started to reverse slowly. I also got better at parking after doing it a couple of times.

Later on that night I applied for a job at Burger King again this time at Highland Park. I have applied for the Panmure one before but they said that they were looking for people who can work opening and closing shifts so I didn’t get the job.

On Sunday, I stayed home all day and played on my phone and computer.

My Weekend News 9/08/18

On Friday afternoon last week, I caught the bus to 2 Cheap Cars to have a look at all of the cars they had there. After that I went to Pizza Hut at The Hub to have dinner. Then I went to the bus stop outside Botany Towns Centre and I saw Bradley there. I said hi to him and we went on the same bus. While we were on the bus I showed him my learners license, he was so jealous of me. Then Bradley went off and I went back home.

On Saturday, I went to my Dad’s house for the night. We went to Snowplant in the North Shore because it was almost my brothers birthday. It was a big indoor snow facility with a big down skiing hill and a cafe at the bottom. I went down a little hill a few times on a tub. Later on that day we went to the movie theatre at the St Luke’s Mall and we watched a movie called Mission Impossible, it was very entertaining to watch.

On Sunday, me and my brother went back home to my mum’s place. In the afternoon on that day I went to Botany Towns Centre to have a look around. Then I went back home on the bus. I had a really awesome weekend.

Strength Training Review 09/08/18

Strength Training Review 09/08/18

Today in strength training Brooklyn and I did the DIYS challenge. It's a challenge where you have to think what you have to do independently without the teachers advice while in the gym.

We started off with doing our stretches then we moved on to push ups and sit ups. Then we worked on our legs on the bikes. After that we lifted some dumbbells. Then we went on to the weight machines. First we did some arm lifting then we did some leg lifting. They were both very cool but I had to downgrade to 1 or 2 less weights on the arm one because I’ve overweighted from the other ones.

Next after that we carried some weights around the strength gym room. I was pretty awesome at it. At one time I lifted two 15kg ones. Then we lastly did some arm pulling on the rowing machines.

Brooklyn and I where very cool in the gym we were the only ones who passed the DIYS. Everyone else got kicked out because they were not being safe in there.

Strength Training Review 03/08/18

Strength Training Review 02/08/18

When I did strength training on the 02/08/18 I enjoyed lifting up the dumbbells. I really challenged myself to lift up the heaviest possible. One time I lifted up two 20kg ones.

Also I really liked the bikes even though my legs got tired after doing it a lot. But I tried to put it on the hardest possible speed and go as fast as I could.

Lastly I enjoyed doing rowing but it was a little bit hard to keep straight so I’ll need to work on that. But I’m getting used to pushing my legs out first before my arms and pushing my arms back in before my legs.

My July Holiday's

My July Holidays

On Monday week one, I went to the park across the road from Botany Towns Centre to meet up with a former teacher aid. His name is Robin and he used to teach me when I started at Sommerville 11 years ago. First we walked around the park chatting about how we’ve been and stuff. I’ve also told him that I’ve been learning how to drive and  I’ve got the learners licence. Then we went across the road to the mall and we had lunch there. While we were eating I saw Jane coming into the food court and we said" hi" to her. After we had lunch we walked around the mall and we had ice cream from New Zealand Natural. After that he took me home on the bus.

Later on, in week one on Saturday, I went for a driving lesson with my nanna on a new neighbourhood road where new houses are going to be built in Pukekohe. I’ve been practicing how to steer, stop and give away.

In week two, on Thursday night, I went to the Stardom with my uncle and my brother to look at Mars through a telescope. We also saw how the galaxy appears on that night. When we got there we had a look around in there at all of the displays before we went into the theatre room. Then a guy explained about our galaxy and some of the planets we have around it. After the show the guy said that we can’t go and look at Mars through a telescope because he said it was too cloudy. We got some special voutures  to come back for another visit.

On Saturday week two, I went to New Plymouth with my Dad and brother for the night.  It took us about 5 hours to get there and we had to stop at a park on the way there. When we got there we went to my other nanna’s house and we had dinner there. Then we went to my Dad’s brother's house and we stayed the night there. The next day we got up and we went back home. I had a really awesome holiday.

The flying Tail Car Nonsense Poem

The Flying Tail Car

Here is a flying tail car. It can go up to 100,000 m above sea level. This flying tail car can go really really fast up to 250,000 kms an hour and It can go from Auckland to London in 2 seconds.

It has unlimited fuel so It will never ever run out of gas. This is also a self driving car so you won’t have to steer the steering wheel.

The tail at the back of the car is so that the car can go faster without it the car will only go up to 50,000 kms an hour.

My trip to the Auckland Q Theatre

On Friday, we went to the Auckland Q Theatre in the city to watch a film called Postcards From India. First we got divided into two groups Kevin's and Nicola’s. I was in Kevin’s group and he had the sunshine van. Next we drove up to the base school and got a bus to the city.

When we got there we went inside the building where the theatre was and we went upstairs to the theatre room and we sat down and watched the film. The film was about 70 minutes long and it talks about how a guy from India started his music career and about how other people from his country and other countries like Africa play music.

After the film a few people who helped make the film came out and spoke to us about how long did it took to make the film and stuff. Then we went back onto the bus and went back to the base school.

When we got back there we went for a walk to the grass field and we had our lunch there. After that we got back into our van and went back to school. I had a really awesome time at the theatre and the film was really interesting.

My Weekend News 29/05/18

On Friday afternoon, I went with my mum to the AA centre in Howick to do a driving rules test for my learners license. When I got there I filled out a driving form and I waited for about 15 minutes before they sat me down at a computer and I did the test. It took me about 6 minutes to answer all 35 questions and I got 34 out of 35 right so I passed. Then I went back to the counter and they gave me a temporary NZ learner’s license. On Saturday, I went to my Dad’s place for the night. We went to the St Lukes Mall to see the new Sole movie. On Sunday, we went to an abandoned paddock and my Dad taught me how to drive the car around the corners and he showed me how to use the brake and accelerator. It was very nerve wracking but my Dad told me I was good at it. Then I went back home.

Jack Falls Into The Bottle

Jack Falls Into The Bottle

By Joel

Once upon a time about 4 centuries ago in Scotland there was a middle aged man called Jack. Jack had really long hair and liked to play music in Scottish Parades from his bagpipe. Jack rode his horse to a castle in Glasgow because he had to get a new bagpipe. He had to get a new bagpipe because his old one that he had been using for the last fifteen years had finally broke.

When Jack got there he went inside and bought the new bagpipe for about £5000, then he had a walk around but he didn’t realise there was a trap. He was walking around but then he walked onto the trap and he fell down into a big clear bottle then the bottle lid came down onto the top. Now Jack was trapped inside and he was trying to scream out ‘help!!’ and tried to play loud music from his new bagpipe but no one could hear him.

Jack was in the bottle for about two weeks and he was starving. Jack tried to smash open the bottle with his new bagpipe but it was too strong. The only thing he could do during those two weeks is play music from his new bagpipe.

Then one day a knight who was in the castle heard some sought of sound coming from somewhere inside and he follow the tune that lead him to a big room where the bottle with Jack inside was and went up the steers and tried to open the lid but it was too heavy so he got some other knights to help him get the lid off and they freed him.

Jack tired to go back to his horse but it was gone. He was thinking it must have run away because the horse may have thought that Jack had died somehow. So Jack had to walk all the way back home but it was snowing. The snow was so deep that Jack had to dig his way through all the snow all the way back to his house in Edinburgh.
